Our team on the Isle of Man is made up of over 30 people in roles ranging from operations, engineering, maintenance and administration to health and safety.
Here’s some information about a few of them:
Plant Manager since early 2020, Jon joined the team in 2011 as Operations Manager after working as a Module Manager in the Aerospace Engineering sector where he was responsible for the Ejection Seat assembly team.
Jon holds an HND in Mechanical Engineering and a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute.
Chris joined SUEZ in the Isle of Man in 2015 as a Shift Operator after a career in the merchant navy with Shell Tankers and the Isle of Man Government Treasury Division. In 2017, Chris was promoted to Shift Manager and then Operation Manager in 2020.
Chris has an HNC in Nautical Science and NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety.
Our Maintenance Manager, John Pearson, has been with the company for over 10 years. John joined in January 2006 as a Maintenance Technician – EC&I and was promoted to Maintenance Manager in January 2024.
Beckie joined the SUEZ team on the Isle of Man in 2010 as Compliance Officer, was promoted to Hazardous Waste Chemist in 2013 and again to Hazardous Waste Manager in 2015.
Beckie is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor and holds an MSc in Environmental Diagnosis and Management.
Our Shift Managers and their teams operate the plant to ensure it runs in accordance with our licence and health and safety commitments. Each shift has three team members working around the clock.
Sammy-Jo Seed has been with the company for over 6 years. Sammy joined the business as an Office Manager and was promoted to Financial Analyst in April 2023. Sammy is currently working towards her ACCA qualification.
Our Administration Manager, Amanda Garfield, has been with the company for over 10 years. Amanda joined in September 2013 as an Office Manager and was promoted to Administration Manager in July 2023. Amanda manages the day to day administration needs of the facility and also oversees the administration of the Alternative Waste Business – including waste oil, confidential waste and clinical waste disposals.
Our Operations Administrator, Ellie Fitzpatrick has been with the company for eight months, joining in June 2023. Ellie supports the Administration Manager on a daily basis, working closely with the Alternative Waste Business.
Our Technical Plant Engineer, Michael Valerga, has been with the company for over eight years. Michael joined in July 2015 as an EfW Apprentice Technician and became a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in July 2018 following the completion of his apprenticeship. Michael was then promoted to Senior Maintenance Technician in July 2021 and then Technical Plant Engineer in October 2022.
